Erected in 1898, the Mazu Temple stands as a testament to both history and devotion. Mazu is a Chinese goddess whose belief came to Southern Vietnam with Chinese immigrants during the Ming-Qing dynasties in the late 18th century when round 7,000 Southern Chinese settled in various places in the Southern Vietnam.

Chinese fishermen often pray to Mazu for help. When they safely settled in Southern Vietnam, they built special temples to honor her. They greatly appreciated her for ensuring their journey was smooth. Over time, the Chinese community started worshiping her for additional reasons, seeking her protection for safety, good fortune, and especially as a guardian for newborns.

This communal generosity materialized into the splendid temple we admire today, a harmonious fusion of history, devotion, and the enduring power of communal goodwill.
