Important Notes about Firing and Packaging

All products spend at least 12 days in the kilns. For that reason, your freshly-crafted pieces usually finish in a raw (unbaked) form to keep up with your itinerary.

Non-firing takeaway packaging is available for your unbaked creation, and domestic Vietnam shipping can be arranged.

Start at Mekong Pottery Homestay with our host, pedal towards Vinh Long Pottery Village for a glimpse into the massive, old-established factories nestled along the streets.

Tour around different 'compartments' of the factory for an insight into the how-tos of our pottery production from A to Z. Learn introductory techniques of hand building, create your masterpieces from scratch using a ready-made gypsum mold (no more messy wheel-throwing), learn how to reach a desire 'thickness' of the items and scoop out excessive clay using a special 'bow', smoothen out the exterior of your items using scrapers and sponges under the instruction of a 'polisher', unleash your inner artist with your own customized carvings and imprinting, and rest up with a refreshing drink.

The workshop concludes with a cycling return to Mekong Pottery Homestay.
